Hi guys, the post write-up on our very first session is finally here! We decided to give a summary and the things we learned from the event. Hope you enjoyed it.

People come and go. Just like people, Green Drinks KL had started and ended. With every hopes of bringing back this platform, a group of young enthusiasts decides to bring Green Drinks KL back. So here we are, at the Gravy Factory in NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, on 29 March 2018, all ready to kick-start our first Green Drinks KL season 2 with the theme, “Looking back, looking forward”.

Be realistic
We are heading toward the sixth extinction as our previous generation failed to prevent it from happening. We need to realize what is happening right now. So what superpowers we need to save the world right now?

Inertia
The biggest force that makes us change is inertia. It is the force that let us pursue the things we want to make a difference. However, we need to know when to give up when we need to give up as well.

Make green a choice of living
We need to change our perspective of happiness. Happiness should stem from dematerialization, experiences and connections with other people. If all of us set going green as a new and exciting trend, we will all have a deeper sense of happiness.

Make green a choice of profitability
We need to show the younger generation that green is profitable. We can try doing creative ways like converting electricity bills into real carbon credits and tokens to show that going green is financially beneficial.

Joining an activist group
Joining a group of active youths allow us to brainstorm ideas on how to make our voice heard in the public. Not only that, we will gain lots of experience and blooming friendships along the way.

All in all, our dear veterans accentuated on the role of younger generation in making the world a more sustainable place to live in. So please take note future eco-leaders! We cannot change our past but we can change our future. And definitely, like what Simpson mentioned, the end goal is to be happy. No matter what we want to do, we need to know what and why we want to do it. That way, we will have a purpose and inertia will take place.
